The Backstory
The Deliberative Canvas project is part of Metagov's cohort of builders working on Interoperable Deliberative Tools, running from August '24 to February '25. You can read the RFP that was released in early 2024.
"Digital tools that go beyond basic voting and commenting, and provide new capabilities to the governance ecosystem—which may only be one step of a larger deliberative governance process. The processes these tools enable may be used for online community governance, AI governance and alignment, cooperative governance, citizen town halls or assemblies, or other kinds of institutional policy-making or decision-making."
The funding of this and other projects will produce open-source software and tooling that increases the interoperability of deliberative tools via import/export of flat-files (CSV, JSON, JSON-LD etc) and other functionality.
We will soon publish links to public code repositories for the Deliberative Canvas app and associated infrastructure. It is also likely that some technical documentation will be published on this site.
